The Spitfire

Posted by John jpr@thecomicartwebsite.com on

This is my new Spitfire screenprint. I love the shape of the aircraft and like finding ways to show it off, to do it justice. The elliptical shape of the wings and the sloping curves of the fuselage mean that it’s sometimes hard to remember that it was a very efficient killing machine.
I’m delighted that my colour-band format adapts so well to showing off the two silhouettes of the fighter.
The black, white and red colour scheme also seems to be bold and beautiful.
My other Spitfire screenprints show the Spitfire
– on its own, in silhouette
– on yellow and black colour bands
– circling a Heinkel 110, taken from the front page of Commando comic
– with a red nose, pursued by Me109s, also taken from Commando comic
Currently it’s only available in my standard format, 26cms x 19cms. As ever, its on cotton mould-made paper milled in Somerset. It’ll be limited to an edition of 200, and will be signed and numbered by me. There will also be a stamp stating that it’s a hand-pulled screenprint by me.
