David Thelwell helps me choose new images

Posted by John Patrick Reynolds on

I spent last Friday afternoon with artist David Thelwell, son of cartoonist Norman Thelwell, who helped me choose some images from his father’s archive to turn into screenprints.

I have picked a few dozen and some of these will be appearing on these pages in due course.

Norman Thelwell became the unofficial cartoonist of the British countryside. His drawings of little girls on ponies were the most popular, but he also drew cartoons of dogs, cats, hunting, fishing and other country pursuits.

I’ll try to make a screenprint of one cartoon of each of these topics.
