Asterix screenprinted for the first time

Posted by John jpr@thecomicartwebsite.com on

I’m launching my new range of Asterix screenprints – this is the first time in Europe that Asterix has been screenprinted – with a week-long show in central London.

This is the first time that the Asterix publishing company, Les Editions Albert-René, have given a screenprinter in the UK permission to use its images in this way.

“Comics such as the Asterix books are perfect for screenprinting,” says Reynolds. “They suit vivid colour and inky blacks, exactly the strengths of the medium.

“I select the panels for content of the speech bubbles and for balance and composition. The speech bubble itself is often an important element.”

” We are delighted that Comic Art have joined the Asterix licensing programme. Their product is original, of high quality and is a great way of showcasing the fantastic artwork associated with Asterix,” commented Ian Downes from Start Licensing, which represents the French publisher in this country.

Asterix Screenprinted is on at The Showcase, 33-35 St John’s Square, London EC1M 4DS, from Tuesday April 15 until Sunday April 20, 11am until 7pm daily except Saturday 19, 11am until 5pm and Sunday 20 April, 11am until 3pm.

The nearest Tube is Farringdon.
